Creatives That Rock: IBTrav Illustrations and Design of Travis Falligant

Travis Falligant is the devious mastermind behind IBTrav Illustrations and Design. When Travis is not catching a prescreening of the latest horror flick you can find him sketching. His skill for portraits, color combinations, and composition are taken to the next level with his quirky pop culture sense of humor.

"As a person, I have a very sardonic sense of humor. I look at the world as though I was in a John Waters film. I laugh at the general public's inane actions on a daily basis. Mix that with a dirty mouth and mind and you've got my sense of humor in a nutshell. I don't want to paint myself as a heathen, but I definitely feel as though my humor doesn't fit into an "America's Funniest Home Videos"-vanilla-lite mold. There's some darkness there," says Travis.

One of my favorite creations of Travis's is a viral meme inspired by the movie Magic Mike.

Travis explains, "Around the time of release of the film and I had this wacky idea of movie tie-ins like those back when I was younger. Fast food joints like McDonald's and Wendy's would do movie tie-ins with glasses when a big movie would come out. Magic Mike was getting a decent promotional push in magazines and whatnot and I thought: what if there was a tie-in for a movie like THAT? People were posting it on Twitter, Tumblr, and even Facebook. People were contacting Wendy's, going to their local stores and asking for the Magic Mike glasses. Eventually, I even got a shout out from the film on Twitter! It was a real hoot!"

Besides his fan art, Travis has also been commissioned by big names. He has done work for Walt Disney Home Video (first illustration below is from National Treasure 2), Lionsgate Home Entertainment, Sony Home Video, HorrorHound Magazine, bands, individuals, personalities and more.

You may have also seen his work featured on RuPaul's Drag Race. They had him sketch every week of the current season, creating artwork based off the episodes.

"If you want big, bold and colorful imagery with minimalist but bold iconography," Travis is your man! "I have enjoyed creating art to promote individuals' brands or identity. I like creating art that may not be seem as deeply symbolic, but is in your face and iconic."

Travis has an iconic style all his own. Like Steven Tyler, his style is in-your-face and makes you take notice! His work is inspiring for more than just his artistic skill. His comedic timing and intelligent story telling is in-your-face awesomeness!
