Rockin' Event Review: Meals on Heels in Monster Heels

After attending last year's Meals on Heals gala in St. Paul I knew I needed to step-up my shoe game. I decided to go with a Monsters Inc. theme mainly because it gave me an excuse to create furry shoes... and to show off my Pixar geekdom.

I started with a pair of shoes from Goodwill. I knew I couldn't sacrifice one of my beloved shoes to the cause. After all I am not a monster!

I then bought supplies to create some truly ghoulish kicks!

No monsters were harmed in the making of these shoes.

Time for the fur! I couldn't find fur with the correct spots to match Sully's so I used a paint marker on the fur later.

One cool trick I used to make the eyes really look like Mike Wazowski's was to pop them open and paint the black eyeball inside.

The finished googly eyes and the Monster's Inc logo were my favorite extra touches to the shoes.

The event was held on Harriet Island in the pavilion. There was outdoor and indoor seating and it is the perfect location for a fun summer event! The event has amazing food. Businesses form all over the Twin Cities area made tapas style food portions and everything is so good!

The night had plenty of activities including music by Tim Mahoney, a bunch of raffle prizes, a photo booth, a screen printing station, and a ring toss. My crew apparently brought a ringer to the wine ring toss that night!

And of course the main event is the shoe competition. I didn't make it into the finalists but I had fabulous time at the event either way. Next year I am upping my game!

I highly recommend the St. Paul Meals on Heels event. It is a fun night at a perfect price and it supports a truly great cause!
