I Do What I Love

I was cutting out some posters from a large format printer last week and thought "Wow, I am so lucky I get to do what I love for a living." I spend most of my time working on creative projects and I get paid a living wage to do it. I am a single woman and have provided for myself for the past ten years because of art. When I start to think about all the time people spend in their lives working I can't believe anyone would choose to do a job that makes them watch the clock or live for Friday.

Trimming a poster I designed.

So many people believe the myth of the starving artist or refuse to take jobs that are 'beneath' them. But because of all the jobs I have taken that were 'beneath' me, I got to design for George Lucas, design for the Walt Disney Company, and even now I get to use my talents to support causes I believe in. Remember, luck is when opportunity meets preparation. You never know when taking that job that was beneath you (cleaning strollers at Disney MGM Studios) can lead to an opportunity to do what you love for the rest of your life!

I do all sorts of different projects everyday.
